The Oregon Jewish Museum seeks a qualified intern to assist in the museum’s front galleries.
OJM interns work closely over a period of several months with museum professionals on varied projects to gain insight into the workings of the museum. Tasks include, but are not limited to: giving docent tours of current exhibition, reception desk customer service, publicity material creation and distribution, data entry, and gallery preparation.
A gallery intern provides a warm welcome and excellent customer service to visitors/guests/members; collects admissions/program fees; provides light administrative support, directs guests to programs and appointments, answers general information and membership questions, performs light computer research; keeps reception area neat and stocked with informational materials.
Desired Qualifications
• Experience in a customer service environment
• Ability to communicate with people of diverse backgrounds
• Dependable and punctual
• Must enjoy meeting new people
• Self-directed and willing to follow Oregon Jewish Museum rules and procedures
• Comfortable with computer/telephones (or quick study willing to learn)
Interested students should be working toward a degree in art, art history, Jewish studies, or museum studies. Previous museum or gallery experience is not required. This is an unpaid internship.
