Description:
The Art Department at St. Cloud State University seeks a vibrant and dedicated individual to teach photography and media-related courses in a progressive interdisciplinary-oriented department. St. Cloud State University is a comprehensive university of approximately 15000 students and is an accredited member of the National Association of Schools of Art and Design. The Kiehle Visual Arts Center sits on the banks of the Mississippi River, sixty miles north of the Twin Cities metropolitan area.

Responsibilities:
Teach three studio courses (18 contact hours) per semester (six courses per year) in photography as well as special topics, foundation courses, intermediate courses in critical frameworks and combined studio, or advanced multi-disciplinary courses, depending on department need. The successful applicant will contribute to BA, BS and BFA programs including a developing emphasis in integrated media.  S/he will work together with others teaching in existing video, digital and performance media and will transition the department from wet-based to primarily digital photography.
Consequently, candidates with the ability to teach both traditional and digital photographic methods and to work in alternative photo processes are preferred. The successful candidate should be informed of critical theory and interdisciplinary approaches to art-making, and be knowledgeable about current practices in contemporary art.  In order to be considered for tenure, the successful candidate will demonstrate ability to teach effectively, to produce a record of scholarly or creative achievement or research, to engage in ongoing preparation and study, to contribute to student growth and development, and to provide service to the university and community.

Qualifications: MFA in Photography or related area is required at time of appointment.
The eligible candidate must be a practicing artist and show a record of successful professional activity. Previous teaching experience at the college level, including teaching assistantships, is preferred. The successful candidate must be able to teach in a Macintosh environment and will have demonstrated the ability to teach and work with persons from culturally diverse backgrounds.
