OCAC Faculty News :: October 2011

OCAC book arts students and faculty are participating in “Invisible Cities and Hidden Landscapes” at Henry Thomas Gallery at West Wales School of the Arts in the United Kindgom. The exhibition includes work from University of West Wales, University of West Essex, Kansas State University, and OCAC. The traveling exhibition opens in Wales at the end of September, travels to Bristol, England in November, opens at KSU in the spring, and then to OCAC’s Centrum Gallery in March 2012.

The participating students are: Ruth Bryant, Rachel Fish, Erin Derge, Atika Piff, Sue Selbie, Ava Goldberg, Gwen Stronach, Michelle Latham, Melanie Rolka, Elizabeth Rank, and Ruby Kapka. OCAC faculty Barb Tetenbaum and Marilyn Zornado’s animated short “Old-Time Film” is also being shown during the exhibition.


Helen Hiebert, OCAC fibers faculty, is mentioned in the article http://www.springfieldsown.com/columns/arts/585/paper-trail. She’s also traveling to Korea to lecture at the Craft Bieniale in Cheongju and at Ewha Women’s University in Seoul.


Book Art Department Head Barb Tetenbaum and Marilyn Zornado’s letterpress-printed animated short “Old-Time Film” was screened on September 10th at the Hollywood Theater as part of “Best of the Northwest Animation Fest.“ http://www.nwanimationfest.com/

OCAC faculty Bill Will is participating in the exhibition, “Bonnie Bronson Fellows: 20 Years,“ in celebration of the 20th anniversary of the establishment of the Bonnie Bronson Fund. The exhibition debuts new work by the Bonnie Bronson Fellows, some of the Pacific Northwest’s most influential contemporary artists. The show runs September 7-December 11, 2011 at Ronna and Eric Hoffman Gallery of Contemporary Art at Lewis & Clark College at 0615 SW Palatine Hill Road in Portland OR.


Abby McGehee, Associate Professor of Art History, co-edited the volume New Approaches to Medieval Architecture which was published this past spring by Ashgate.
