Feminine Impressions: Art by Hee-Yun Kim and Christopher Kramer
Saturday, November 19 at 7:00pm
Location: Gallery Golmok

Feminine Impressions: Female Characteristics in Korean Society explores the complicated relationship between the modern Korean woman and the harsh demands of her surroundings.
Seoul artist Hee Yun Kim’s paintings explore the idea of figurative suggestion by creating a dialog between personal symbols, socio-personal relationships, and the double-entendre of being female in Korea. American expat Christopher Kramer’s artist books, mix-media wall pieces, and sculptures scrutinize the expectations placed on the womanly in Korean culture—like body image, submissive relationships, and cosmetic surgery—by comparing and contrasting them with the dutiful erotic symbolism and poetry of the gisaeng tradition.
Show runs November 15th - 21st. Opening Reception November 19th 7pm
